POKEMON GO: New "Portal" to be Explored
New Game!!! POKEMON GO!!
We have knew Pokemon story since chilhood and may thought "how if it's really in our live?"
Well, we seem now have the answer through the new game development by Niantic on its new game, POKEMON GO. This game provides new kind of game feature that makes the player have deeper involvement to the game, first from its application of GPS system and AR Mode.
GPS - Overworld
Enhancing the collaboration between game and GPS technology, POKEMON GO gives limitation and also at the same time new challenge in game playing for the user. Playing game is no longer done by sitting and staring at the game screen. Pokemon Go has “set a rule” that players should move to find the Pokemon as if we play “hide and seek” game when we were in childhood which require us to move around seeking for the targets. The different thing is that, in Pokemon Go we are looking for invisible monsters around us through the eye of our android camera.
Area Scanning
One of the leading characteristic of POKEMON GO is the combination between the player's screen with the real world. One of the feature supports this character is the Area Scanning feature in AR ON mode. If in the AR OFF mode, the player can see only the screen version (cartoon) which is not giving an exact location of the Pokemon and to which part they should go, by switch to AR ON mode, the player can find in which spot land the monster stand on and to which part of the land they should walk on.
Moreover, this feature gives an additional sensation for the user that the players seem to feel that the monsters are "exist" in the real world, but they are invisible.Though, their camera scan is used as the "sight portal" to see the presence of the Pokemon around them. In other words, we can say that our android is a tool to help us become "involved" in Pokemon world.
Peer Battle
One to one battle?? I guess my monsters are not ready yet.
Once players gather at one battle spot, they are going to match their monsters on the battle stage usually one to one battle. However, no matter how much the player wish to have a battle, they should firstly pay attention of their monster’s capability and strength and so their rival. If it is not yet enough to be ready for battle, the player may consider to have a battle.
Actually, it is not a thing to be worried. “We have friends. Let’s collaborate!”. One more feature in Pokemon Go that make possible for the players to meet other players and create a “monsters friendship” through collaborated battle. In this case, our monster collections are not just battling on the battle spot, but also collaborating in team to make battle with another battle team. It creates more fun since it is not only provide space of interaction among the players, but also interaction between player’s monster within the game screen.
